Hepatica triloba is a very important remedy in homeopathic Materia medica and is highly effective in treating pharyngeal catarrh with profuse, serous sputa and hoarseness.

This medicine is belonging to the buttercup family that is Ranunculaceae and is commonly known as Liverwort. It is a slow-growing herbaceous plant and is native to North America.

The plant grows 5-15 cm in height has light purple-colored small flowers and appears in winter or spring. This plant has been highly indicated for medicinal uses in the treatment of sore throat, liver disease, pimples, etc.

Hepatica triloba is an old remedy and it is named liverwort because of the shape of its leaves. The leaves of this plant are liver shaped.
