Head symptoms 

Arnica is the remedy mainly indicated to mechanical injuries after a fall or blows on the head. 

In case of meningitis after mechanical traumatic injuries from a fall, arnica can be given.

Arnica is indicated when there is a congestive headache that becomes violent in waking in the morning and by moving the head.

Mouth symptoms

Patients also complain that during mastication their gums pain as if they are ulcerated.

There is burning in the tongue and soft palate, tongue coated white with fetid breath from the mouth.

Face symptoms

The face of the Arnica patient is flushed, sunken, very red, and pale. There are flashes of heat in the face with an itching.

The lips are swollen, parched and the corners of the mouth are underrated.

Arnica is also indicated for acne on the face, they are painful especially when touched. There are pimples and pustules inside the nose and get aggravated when sneezing or yawning.

Throat symptom

The patients who complain there is sensation lodging of food in the throat and bitter eructation after eating are indicated to be prescribed Arnica.

Arnica is indicated to treat tonsillitis and there is stinging main when not swallowed. The mucus is bitter in the throat.

Chest symptom

Arnica is an effective remedy for treating many respiratory-related disorders.

There is shooting, stitching pains on both sides of the chest that prevents breathing. This symptom is one of the main keynotes of arnica.

During cough, the patient holds the chest with both hands to prevent pain.

It advised giving arnica when there is asphyxia in newborns, especially after the laborious labor.

Abdomen and Rectum symptoms

There is frequent emission of flatus with frequent urging to stool that is too offensive and smells like rotten egg.

Arnica has also indicated constipation when the rectum is loaded but stool does not come. The stool is ribbon-like, and after every stool, the patient wants to lie down.

Arnica is also effective in treating hemorrhoids. There is prolapse of the anus after stool and pain in the anus as if it was bruised with severe soreness.

Urinary symptoms

Arnica is indicated in treating haematuria (blood in urine) as the result of injuries to the kidney.

The patient will complain of frequent desire to urinate accompanied by biting burning in the urethra after micturition but not during urinating.

There are great internal heat, hands and legs feel cold while the face and head appear hot.

Complementary Medicines

Antidoted by

Arnica montana Dosage & Potencies

The dosage and potency of the medicine depend on the individual case.

Arnica Montana 30 Uses

Lower potency is given when very few symptoms of the patient match with the medicine and help the doctor only to diagnose the disease condition. 

This potency requires frequent repetition, 3-4 times a day, till the expected result is seen. 

Arnica Montana 200 Uses

This is considered as higher potency of Arnica; they are given when the majority of mental symptoms and physical symptoms of Arnica match. 

Higher potencies are advisable to be not repeated very often; they act for a long duration of days, so the second dose is repeated every 7-days or every 15-days once.

On giving 200C potency, it’s advisable to wait for the symptoms to subside. It is helpful in conditions of contusion of blood after injuries and small painful boils.

Arnica Montana 1M Uses

This is a very high potency of arnica. One should give it only after careful case analysis, where all medicinal symptoms of Arnica and that given by the patient match perfectly. 

One should not repeat 1 M potency. It can be given after 30 days once and waiting for symptoms to disappear.

Arnica Montana Q (Mother Tincture) Uses

Arnica in tincture form is taken orally by adding 10 drops in half a cup of water thrice a day.

The tincture of Arnica is also used externally and advised by many homeopaths to treat hair fall. Mix ten drops of the tincture in 50 ml of oil and apply the mixture to the scalp twice a week.

It is effective in treating post injuries bruises, mouth ulcers, bleeding gums, stops the bleeding, and reduces soreness.

Arnica Montana 3X/6X Uses

This lower potency of Arnica Montana works well to give temporary relief from a sprain, minor muscle ache, and joint pains.

Take 2-3 tablets once a day for 1 week, and do not take more than 10 days.
